Several years before they met, a now married couple had traveled to the same place at the same time in China. A perfect coincidence, immortalized by photos.
They seemed destined to meet. In July 2000, Xue and Ye did not know each other, and were far from suspecting their future story, but walked within a few feet of each other, says the Guardian.
At the same place, at the same time
That day, these two teenagers each perform their own tourist outing in the seaside town of Qingdao, China. Without speaking to each other, or even looking at each other, the two young people are photographed at the same time in front of the local monument, a red sculpture located on the Place du 4 Mai. The height of chance, Ye appears in the background of the photo of the one who will become his wife years later.
That day, the young Xue accompanies her mother, who is recovering from surgery and booked this trip to change their ideas. For his part, Ye participates in a group trip.
A meeting, ten years later
Precisely at the same moment, they find themselves posing on a souvenir photo, before leaving, each on their own. More than ten years pass before Xue and Ye meet in 2011 in a different city, and fall in love with each other.
Now married, it is only recently that they have rediscovered these photos, and the presence of Ye on the Xue cliché. “When I saw the picture, I was stunned, I got the goose bumps,” said Ye.
Now a twin’s relative, the couple plans to return to Qingdao, which has become so “special” in their eyes. And plan to make photos again.
