Twenty years after Titanic, Kate Winslet joins Avatar sequels in leading role, under the direction of the American filmmaker James Cameron.
The hour of reunion. Nearly twenty years after Titanic’s global success, actress Kate Winslet and director James Cameron will once again work together through the Avatar franchise. It was the multi-Oscar winning American filmmaker who confirmed the good news to Deadline.
“Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years and our collaboration on Titanic , which has been the biggest reward of my career,” James Cameron said, “I’m looking forward to seeing her as the character of Ronal.”
Four suites until 2025
Four Avatar suites are planned for the next few years at the cinema. Avatar 2will be released on December 18, 2020, followed by Avatar 3 (December 17, 2021), Avatar 4 (December 20, 2024) and Avatar 5 (December 19, 2025). Released in 2009, the first installment of the franchise had yielded $ 2.8 billion at the worldwide box office.
The franchise, which began filming in Manhattan Beach, California, will include Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin and a whole new generation of young actors whose faces have recently been unveiled by the studios of the 20th Century Fox. For the screenplay, James Cameron has worked with Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Shane Salerno.
