Twitter reveals its daily active user numbers for the first time

For the first time in its history, Twitter has published the number of active daily users that use its platform. Despite the problems that the social network has had in recent years – such as the presence of bots, Russian trolls or verbal abuse among users, among others – Twitter presents a number of active daily users: 126 million.

However, Twitter has many fewer users than its competitors. Facebook has 1,200 million active daily users, while Snapchat has 186 million. Twitter said this week that its number of active daily users only considers accounts that can see advertising and not those that use Twitter through third-party applications.

For this reason, according to the company, their numbers can not be compared realistically with those of other companies. Historically, Twitter has only published the growth percentage of its active users.

Although Twitter has fewer active users, the social network continues to grow. The company reported that the number of active users had increased by 9% compared to the same period last year.

In a call with investors, company CEO Jack Dorsey commented that Twitter was an indispensable platform for unique conversations. However, he also acknowledged that the platform could be difficult to use. For example, Dorsey said he was aware that it can be difficult to get involved in conversations.

He announced that the company was taking steps to improve Twitter and eliminate barriers to entry for new users.

The last year and a half has been very positive for the company in financial terms, with five consecutive profitable quarters.
