Children are also entitled to their smartphone! It was during the MWC 2018 that the Spanish company EscudoWeb presented its phoneKid to the press. Smartphones have truly become democratized over the years. So much so that manufacturers want to place them as soon as possible in the hands of users.
Like EscudoWeb, a Spanish firm that has designed a phone for the youngest – from the age of 7 – called the phoneKid. And this phone has the distinction of working with an overlay based on Android, the famous operating system Google!
Many features configurable by parents
Where phoneKid wants to impose itself on the market, it is at the level of the control that can exert the parents on this smartphone intended for their children. Faced with the BBC, EscudoWeb explains that it is impossible to turn off the phone or disable geolocation without special authorization.
And that’s not all because children will not be able to launch certain applications while others will only be accessible with certain modes. For a mode related to education, the child will be entitled to programs related to it – like the calculator.
Child safety at the heart of the debate
In the age of the Internet, connected objects and other security sometimes failing, manufacturers seem to take seriously that of the youngest. Apple had even mentioned the idea of a stronger parental control of its iPhone – not to mention that the problems related to connected watches for children were singled out recently.
The phoneKid EscudoWeb is therefore in this vein while offering stimulating and intellectual activities with, as a bonus, a reduction of risks of addiction!
