Boeing reveals an unmanned fighter Jet equipped with AI and able to collaborate with human pilots

Boeing unveils autonomous fighter jet that uses AI to fly alongside pilots

The latest Boeing military aircraft looks like a fighter, but it lacks a significant part: the cockpit. It is called ATS (acronym for Airpower Teaming System) Drone, and is an unmanned fighter equipped with AI to the point of collaborating with human pilots.

Yes, the ATS drone is prepared to accompany human pilots as the wingman, both in escort maneuvers as well as reconnaissance or electronic warfare. The drone measures 11.7 meters long and can take off, fly and land without a pilot at a maximum distance of 3,700 km.

The ATS Drone is the first autonomous aircraft developed outside the United States. It has been created by Boeing Australia in collaboration with the defense department of that country. The drone has not yet passed the prototype phase. The final version will take off sometime in 2020.
